Is it possible to get enough of the 1920s? Not Really.

We added a lot of new inventory to Past Perfect Vintage yesterday. It was quite a day. I'm going to go a bit out of historical order and show you the 1920s additions first. I'll come back to the Victorian and Edwardian pieces on Friday. I think this is the best cross section of 1920s fashions we've been able to offer in quite a while. Dresses, an evening wrap, hats and purses, all from two

Past Perfect Vintage: The 1920s and 1930s Make a Return!

It's been a long while since I posted here. And even longer since we added wonderful inventory to Past Perfect Vintage.  I have written here about my opera and ballet work which ate up all the time this past January through mid April. Satisfying work it was and remunerative, but it's so great to be back to a regular schedule. And that includes shopping for vintage clothing, getting it

Dear Golden Goes Gatsby

It's no real secret that Dear Golden (ok, me!) has a big soft spot for the 1920s so with the release of The Great Gatsby there seemed no better time to put some 1920s frocks in the shop.
Expect these to be available in the coming days!

Carey Mulligan | Vogue | The Great Gatsby

Beauuuuuuuuuuutiful beyond belief photoshoot from Vogue that does the trick whetting the whistle for The Great Gatsby film. Not to mention setting my affinity for 1920s & art deco dresses aflame. Wow.

1920s coats

I am totally, utterly, completely goo-goo ga-ga over 1920s coats. Like when I see them my eyes water and I feel filled with both joy and despair. I want to marry them, eat them, live in them - it's intense. And heartbreaking because they are so rare in the world and if ever there is one available for purchase they certainly aren't cheap, to say the least.

Above are some of my very favorite coats from my 1920s Pinterest  - which one do you like best?

Staying In

If December is the month for going out, January is most certainly the month for staying in. I myself have been sick every day of this month and have been doing the lion's share of staying in. Were I not sick I might have lounged in delicates as pretty as these pieces I recently photographed. They will be making their way into the shop through this month and the next - to make your staying in as glamorous as possible, naturally.

A '20s Teaser

You know when you've been putting something off for months, for some mysterious reason, and finally, for some other mysterious reason you get the motivation to tackle that something? Well, that happened to me yesterday. I have been procrastinating photographing a big rack of 1920s dresses, why I don't know; most likely the same reason I was putting off shooting the wedding dresses I recently shot; both take a lot of time, attention and PATIENCE. You can't speed through a vintage wedding dress or 1920s dress photo shoot, you have to move slowly & handle the dresses with much care. Me being a bit of a spaz and always rushing around, I didn't feel like making myself slow down long enough to shoot these beauties. Perhaps it was the relief of the election being over, the fact that I've switched from tea to coffee or the realization that the hours of sunlight will be dwindling fast but yesterday I finished off the wedding dresses AND photographed the rack of 1920s dresses.

With the The Great Gatsby and the holidays around the corner I hope to slowly start stocking the shop with some of these truly lovely jazz age treasures. Now I just have to decide which dresses to add first...decisions, decisions...

1920s Greece in color

As you may or may not know I have a pretty hearty affinity for 1920s-1930s bohemian/folk clothing. It's not easy to find, as one would expect, so that just makes me affection for it even stronger. I love love love these images of Greece in the 1920s, they make me want to put on three of my embroidered skirts, a head scarf & head out to the meadow to pluck olives off some low branches.

The Flapper Bride

vintage 1920s Diaphanous Star dress

vintage 1920s Nymph of Nysa headpiece
vintage 1930s Shimmer Satin heels
A complete 1920s bride ensemble! Quite possibly one of the most gorgeous bride-worthy 1920s beaded dresses I have ever laid my hands on is now in the shop. And a very rare 1920s bridal headpiece; I had never seen one of these in person until now, and I am not sure I will ever see one again. All three pieces are now in the SHOP.
