I think my favorite online discovery of late has been the National Geographic Found Tumblr site. Found is a curated collection of photographs from the Nat Geo archives that have rarely been seen in public. Many of the photos have lost their original captions or location information so readers are encouraged to contribute if they have information pertaining to any of the photographs. And if you're particularly fond of an image, prints are available for purchase.

Very Cheesy
Last week Tom was away on a photography assignment in Madison, Wisconsin for a couple of days. Before he left, I jokingly told him to bring home some cheese! Well, little did I know he would take that seriously and return with a bag full of artisan cheeses that he picked out from Fromagination. We waited to unwrap and devour each one until we had some perfect weather last night for a backyard picnic. Along with a bottle of wine and a bowl full of fresh strawberries we had Cave Aged Bandaged Cheddar, Foenegreek Gouda and Cranberry Chipotle Cheddar. They were all amazing, but I think the Cave Aged Cheddar was our favorite. I don't know if either of us will end up back in Madison any time soon, but if we do, a trip to Fromagination is definitely on our list of places to visit.

A Vintage Memorial Day
Over the years, I have actually handled a few military uniforms.Most have no names in them, but a few do. And when they do, I like to research them.
I saved these photos, you will see why. We attended a small estate auction on 2008 in Southern Indiana. The listing mentioned clothing, and that there was a WW2 uniform. I didn't expect it to be a woman's. But it was, and it was all there,

1940s and 50s, and Meandering Thoughts Therein
I am hearing a rumor that people aren't buying 1950s vintage right now. Different periods of vintage clothing come in and out of fashion. But I have found there is almost always a market for any given period. There are niche buyers who want only 1920s, the steam punk people, the rockabillys, the Victorian collectors. I really believe the defining quality that makes a period piece sellable

Summer, indeed! Apparently we've skipped spring and have gone straight to summer. The air is thick and humid and it smells like thunderstorms are on their way. The lookbook from Portland based shop Summerland pretty much sums it up; days spent lounging on big porches and walking barefoot through flower gardens.

Those Cool 1950s Summer Prints
It's Spring. It's been along time coming here, and it's still a bit cool. But at last we can look at cotton print dresses! We just stocked up quite a few 1950s summer dresses. This look is good for so many women. The flared skirt is easy to move in, it looks great with flats, sandals or heels. Easy dressing. No girdles, hose or major foundation required, and come hot weather, you are good

Past Perfect Vintage: The 1920s and 1930s Make a Return!
It's been a long while since I posted here. And even longer since we added wonderful inventory to Past Perfect Vintage. I have written here about my opera and ballet work which ate up all the time this past January through mid April. Lo & behold...an outfit post!
Yes, it's been about 100 years, but here I am doing an outfit post; basically born from my deep love of this teal silk skirt I recently thrifted & perhaps the fact that today is the best, sunniest, most summery day yet. I woke up and it was warmer outside the house than inside & that my friends, is cause for celebration. Therefore, right after I photograph some pretty dresses, I'm gonna camp out somewhere and drink a few mojitos.
