Let's Talk 50s.
So let's talk. The 1950s have been in demand for quite some time amongst the vintage people. I saw it really get going in the late 70s and early 1980s, when longer fuller skirts came back in style, along with belted waists. Plus it was 30 years old then, ( my parents wore this!) and that's old enough for nostalgia, i.e. Grease. And then there's James Dean. And Elvis. And rockabilly. And

Vintage Sweaters Ago - go
It's been a bit swamped here with all sorts of things. Opera, pre-Christmas, photography sessions, prep work. So I 'm just going to showcase the new sweaters we put up this month on Past Perfect Vintage. It has turned quite wintry here, and my vintage sweaters and 49ers are doing a great job of keeping me warm. I highly recommend the stylish bargain vintage sweaters can be, especially the

A November Potpourri
We certainly added a lot of new inventory to both Past Perfect Vintage and Past Perfect, the Etsy Division this month. I already featured the Victorian through 1930s pieces here, so now it's time for a potpourri showing. Can we see a theme here? Let's try.

One for the Vintage Sweater Fans
From an unknown newspaper, we have this ad for Nanette's gift sweaters in cashmere with lace and passementerie. I'll take two, please.
Note that both are available in black, but drawn as light colors to show the detail.

Building a Vintage Wardrobe: Halloween Colors
It would be so easy to write these posts if I just threw theoretical outfits on the mannequin. But the goal here is to show looks I have actually worn in the ‘normal’ world. Not as costumes or for “dress up day” at work, or even to actual parties. But every day , go to the store, go to lunch, or in this case, go to the genealogy seminar outfit.
I was pleased in that this was comfortable, the

Our July Collection at Past Perfect Vintage
The July collection of additions just went live at Past Perfect Vintage over the weekend. It's a quite a bit, so I am going to spread it out here on the blog. After all, if you get too much eye candy, you won't want your dinner. We have quite a mix this time with some late summer vintage cottons, 60s and 70s leather jackets, 50s party dresses and two Edwardian Irish Crochet pieces. Talk about a

It's All About Wool and Cashmere
I am one those those tragically unlucky souls who is allergic to wool. Even cashmere can be a no go. It's a loss, I must tell you. Wool is warm. It tailors beautifully. It wears like iron. It cleans well. It can be handwashed, and even vintage wool garments will tolerate dry-cleaning far later in their lifespan than any other fiber.Every winter, I cast longing eyes at vintage wool sweaters and

Two from the 50s: Cardigan & Cape
If I ever own a detective agency, that's what I will call it: Cardigan & Cape, Private Detectives, Our Discretion is Assured. Or perhaps an import business: Cardigan & Cape, Inc., Exotic Silks and Indian Teas. Or maybe a boutique dealing exclusively in outerwear for the damp climate: Cardigan & Cape, Co., Tailors in Fine Woolens. Until then, let us refocus on this colorful late 1950s hand

Perfect for Fall: the Helen Bond Carruthers Cardigan
It's always a rare treat to see these 1950s Helen Bond Carruthers cardigans. And isn't this one just about perfect for Fall? Talk about serendipity. Not that time of yeat makes any difference to HBC fans. The worksmandship is superb and I love her use of the appliques. We just received 2 sweaters in stock, this one in a marvelous brown with autumn leaves and pearl buttons. The second was black

pssst...you heard it here first: new vintage arrivals at Past Perfect Vintage
New arrivals at Past Perfect Vintage! We don't add tons of inventory every month. Because we ( that's Monty and I) want to really love each piece we find. Or if not love, at least feel a profound liking. Although the third member of our team, Truman the Cat, gets no vote. He has no taste except for fur toys, and those must be black or white to be chic.We added an eclectic assortment for a variety
