This month, we added the last of 2 recent hat acquisitions the website. It's taken awhile, but I think it was about 60 hats at once! I don't usually stock that many at one time, but they were all so wonderful. It has been a treat to see them and share. Four of this month's millinery additions have already sol, so enjoy these while you may!

Flappers A-Go -Go! ( Part 4)
I think this is one of the best 1920s hats I have ever had. This comes out of my personal stash. It was a gift many years ago from a dear friend. A friend with excellent taste and a fine knowledge of costume history. He found it is a small Kentucky town, but it most likely came from California. It has all the qualities I like in antique and vintage clothing. Good lines, great color, rich detail

And Now for Something Different
My, I jump around from era to era here at Past Perfect Vintage. Yesterday our topic was 1880s bustle dresses, today it is 1920s wig cloches. Tomorrow??? Could be the 1980s here. Could be 1987 to be specific. It's part of the fun. I really don't have a favorite period in fashion. Just show me something shiny and detailed and I am happy. Here's today's shiny object: a 1920s gold bullion thread wig.

The Sublime 1920s Cloche, Part Deux
In part one, I showed off eye candy of mostly wide brimmed cloches. Part Deux features more of the truly sleek brimless cloches. These are the real skullcap/helmet types that require short hair. These hats looked great with the really tubular, linear dresses of the later 1920s. And it's a style that still works for modern short hair and the long, lean modern line.1920s Blue Straw Cloche available

A Tribute to The Sublime 1920s Cloche Hat
What is it about the 1920s Cloche? It's a simple silhouette for hat. Just a very deep crown, rounded or seamed, occasionally square in profile, with 3 brim variations: none, small or an oval wide one. No Philip Treacy theatrics, no fireworks or streamers. And it has even been ridiculed as a helmet rather than a hat.Yet the simple lines and available space lent themselves to surface ornamentation
