Take Two from the 50s

Two from the 1950s. What do these tow have in common besides the era? An attention to detail I would say. Not the same treatment by any means, but still - detail in cordwork. The black linen weave clutch coat is very simple - a straight body cut with kimono type sleeves, lined in white taffeta. It couldn't be any simpler. But a simple cut is what is needed to set off all that white passementerie

Some new goodies at Past Perfect Vintage

I just posted a potpourri of new goodies @pastperfectvintage.etsy.com A few things for Spring, a few for Summer. There will be more soon. Some 1950s Vogue patterns tomorrow. A Victorian bonnet. A 50s jacket by Charles Kupersmith. A patio skirt. As I said - a potpourri. These 1950s swim trunks made me laugh out loud when I found them. They are in great shape -maybe the original owner didn't have

Vintage from Head to Toe

Much as I love vintage dresses, suits and coats, sometimes it's all about the accessories. Today we feature hats and shoes recently added to Past Perfect Vintage. And in a departure, none of them are black! First up - a great brown felt 1940s hat with brass studs and a lot of attitude. This menswear fedora style crown is paired up with a studded frond? leaf? shape with the added inducement of a

One Woman's Taste in Shoes

1963-66 Balli Black Silk Evening Shoes with RhinestonesOne of the attendant pleasures of working as a Vintage clothing seller is the estate auction. Oh they can be are dirty. And are often musty. And so dark sometimes that a flashlight is needed. I admit, it is an acquired taste. But the reward of finding good clothing and even high style fashion in unlikely surroundings is a cherished bonus.

Are You Ready for New Shoes?

Are you ready for some new shoes? Even if you aren't, these are mighty fine shoe eye candy. We were lucky enough to acquire 9 pair of great shoes form one estate. And please , please believe me, these were the tip of the iceberg. I have never seen so many pairs of shoes at an estate auction in the 20 years I have been purchasing for sale. This lady was the Imelda Marcos of Northern Kentucky. I

Baby Needs Even More Pairs of Shoes!

I do recall my father smiling and singing out 'baby need s anew pair of shoes' before raising the bet at the family poker game. It made me laugh then. But now - of course. More Shoes. Sounds perfectly normal. Now if I had inherited my mother's foot size, these would be mine, all mine. But sadly for my life in relation to vintage shoes, she did not. The first pair up - a gorgeous and classic pair

Vintage Shoes Can Be Comfortable. Really.

Don't let anyone tell you vintage shoes can't be comfortable and wearable. Well, pointy toe stilettos excepted. Those aren't comfortable if they are 1950s, 1990s or 2010s. You just have to hunt a bit. And these 4 pair are proof. Our Test Team tried them all on and pronounced them surprisingly comfy. Our Test Team regretted they are sized 8 1/2 to 9 as said Team member wears an 8. Myself, I'd

A Potpourri of Vintage Accessories

The range of vintage accessories out there is overwhelming. Shoes, hats, purses, gloves, scarves......and then there's the menswear. The great thing about accessories is that if you are into vintage or like the unique, but have trouble with fit or work in a non-vintage friendly environment, accessories are still available to you. Vintage purses, shoes or scarves mix beautifully with modern

The 1950s is Black

More and more 50s. We found even more 50s in our hunts. The Delmans make me want the small feet I don't have. Haven't worn this size since I was oh, in 5th grade. Maybe 4th.But they sure are pretty. Doeskin with beaded buckles, slingback, peep toes and a nice slim heel. 1950s Delman shoes now available at Past Perfect Vintage And they would be perfect with this Luis Estevez dress. Lovely scoop

Teeny Tiny Shoe Eye Candy

Occasionally I find teeny tiny sz 4 shoes. I almost always pass them by - they are so small! I mean, short of footbinding, how do feet stay this small? My feet? Let's just agree I couldn't have gotten my foot in a sz 4 after the age of 5. But shoe designs look so amazingly great in this size, they really do. The second most droolworthy shoes I ever found were a pair or 1940s size 4 black velvet

Oh, to have SZ 7 1/2 Feet

I found four pair of wonderful 1950s stilettos. Here's the most recent pair added to pastperfectvintage.com. 1950s De Liso Debs in navy blue doeskin. Oh to have sz 7 1/2 feet again. But I was about 12 years old when I passed that size, and I seriously doubt my mother would have bought pointy toe stilettos for me to wear to grade school. Or anywhere else for that matter. It's the line that is so

Baby's Got 2 New Pair of Shoes

I''ve had to take a bit of a break here from blogging. Life is like that. But I am are back with 2 new pair of shoes - both 1950s, both stylish, both well made, both 'good' brand shoes and both pair are sz 7 1/2. It's a darn shame I wear an 8. And spend my time standing on concrete floors, or weeding a garden, or walking at the Y. In other words, I have no place in my life for stilettos. Life is

Past Perfect Opens an Etsy Store

Yes indeed! We have done it. We have opened a store: http://www.pastperfectvintage.etsy.com/. Why? It's place we will be selling accessories, hats, shoes and newer, more affordable vintage clothing from the 1950s - 1980s. We might even be brave and sell menswear. We like the format, we like the people, and we like the hearts! The price range there will generally be under a $100 and it will be a
